The short version

Every Arden & Wolfe garment is made to the measurements you supply. Once fabric is cut it cannot be reassigned, restocked or resold — which is why we do not accept returns for change of mind, measurement errors you supplied, or personal preference after delivery.

If something is wrong because of an error on our side, we will fix it free of charge within 60 days of delivery: one complimentary alteration, or one full remake, whichever the garment calls for.

Your Australian Consumer Law (ACL) rights are preserved in full. Nothing on this page excludes, restricts or modifies them.

What counts as our error

A complimentary alteration is offered when the finished garment differs materially from the measurements you supplied at checkout. Common scenarios where we cover the cost:

  • Jacket chest is more than 2 cm out against your submitted chest measurement.
  • Trouser waist, seat, thigh or inseam is more than 1.5 cm out against your numbers.
  • Sleeve, shoulder, back length or trouser outseam differs from the standard pattern produced from your measurements.
  • A visible construction issue — loose button, frayed lining, misaligned stripe, off-grain seam.

Common scenarios that are not covered as our error:

  • The garment fits imperfectly because a number you supplied is wrong.
  • You changed your mind about the cut, lapel shape, fabric, lining or styling.
  • Your body has changed (weight, posture, muscle gain) since you placed the order.
  • You prefer a slimmer, looser, longer or shorter fit than the pattern gives from your measurements.

How the free alteration works

  1. Tell us within 60 days of delivery. Email hello@ardenandwolfe.com with your order number and a clear description of the issue.
  2. Send three photos. The garment on the body in good light, the garment laid flat with a tape measure beside it, and a close-up of the area in question.
  3. Send your original measurements. The PDF or screenshot you submitted at checkout.
  4. We respond within one business day with a clear proposed remedy: free alteration, partial remake, or — for ACL major-fault scenarios — full refund or replacement.
  5. We cover return postage. We send a prepaid Australia Post satchel to your address. Drop the garment off at any post office.
  6. The fix. Authorised alterations are billed back to us. Full-garment remakes are started on our priority production queue.

The video proof

Before your order is dispatched, we record a short video of the finished piece — covering construction, stitching, lining, canvas, buttonholes and overall presentation — and email it to you. This is your record that the garment left our hands in the condition we said it did. If anything in that video doesn't match what arrives, the evidence is already on your side of the dispute.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

The Australian Consumer Law (Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), Schedule 2) gives consumers automatic guarantees that apply to every goods purchase in Australia. They cannot be excluded by any business, including Arden & Wolfe.

Goods must be of acceptable quality, match their description, be fit for any specified purpose, and correspond with any sample or demonstration model. If a garment fails one of these guarantees because of fault on our side:

  • Minor problem — we choose between repair, replacement or refund.
  • Major problem (one a reasonable consumer would not have bought the garment had they known about it, or where the garment is significantly different from its description) — you choose between a full refund or replacement.
